Leapin' Lutherans! The BBOV Strikes Again
The Big Blogroll O' Vark®™© Rocks Out the Summer

BBOVI found one of these n00bs on Facebook. Four others came by linkage, either from new or already listed blogs. One came by request of the listed blogger through his comment on a previous BBOV update. I continue to keep an eye out on Networked Blogs and welcome suggestions from others in order to discover and add more listings to the confessional Lutheran blogosphere.

If you're not sure what to make of the BBOV or wonder about the benefits of being listed and of listing others' blogs, please read the first three links under Aurous Effluence in the sidebar. Those who'd like the Big Blogroll O' Vark®™© can either email me or copy the list from the Alley's source code (click View | Page Source or Control+U in Firefox or View | Source in Internet Explorer).

If you enjoy this blog, especially if you're listed or would like to be added to the Aardvark family, you can let me know via blog comment or through my Facebook page. If you friend me, please attach a note telling me if you are a current or prospective member of the BBOV. And when you find things you like through the Alley, please leave a comment to that effect with the blog owners.

CONFESSIONAL LUTHERAN BLOGS

A State of the Art Sextet

First of all [insert trumpet fanfare here], here's a gigantic Alley welcome to a returning lion of confessional Lutheran blogging. When the Lutheran blogosphere first exploded, one of the bigger bangs came from Tim the Enchanter and Erich Heidenreich. Suddenly, in these bleak and latter days, Beggars All reappears and the nations rejoice!

Although (or because) it's "a not terribly well focused weblog," you well might enjoy Luther's Deer Leg, John Hudson's occasional offerings of whatever he has on his mind. Of course, his mind wraps itself around the media, politics, contemporary culture, theology, and vomiting pets, so be prepared.

Pastor Mark Henderson has a response for anyone concerned with Lutheran Catholicity. Actually, he has a whole series of responses with more in the works. This blog exists primarily to "to help convince Lutherans that their faith has sufficient historical precedent to reasonably and confidently be deemed catholic" as well as to help hold on to Lutherans who doubt this truth. Rich with citations from the early and the Lutheran fathers on a variety of topics.

Meanwhile, Pastor Jon Sollberger works for and within a Lutheran Habitus through "intentionally Lutheran catechesis," proclaiming "Christ, from the cross to those He makes His own."

No matter who's writing or being quoted, New Reformation Press exercises a confessional apologetic second to none. If you want to reach out to those whose theology is somewhat different or learn more about some of the sharp distinctions in worship and practice between Lutherans and others, this is a treasure trove.

What Sasse Said is always worth reading and Pastor Henderson helps us to receive and honor the theology of this confessional lion on a par with our Lutheran and catholic fathers in the Faith. A fit companion for his newly enrolled Lutheran Catholicity blog (above) and the already listed Glosses from an Old Manse.

FINALLY ...

For all those enrolled in the BBOV, links back are certainly appreciated. And don't forget that all of those listed benefit when you use the entire blogroll. Also, if you'd like to graphically point to the Alley and the Big Blogroll O' Vark®™©, you may use the above design from St. Charles the Illuminous or one of these blog buttons:
Each of these buttons measures 80x15 pixels. Should you choose to use one, please link back to either the main Aardvark Alley URL or else to the post What Is the BBOV.

Finally, if you own or know of a Lutheran blog demonstrating a quia confessional subscription and would like me to consider it for inclusion, please leave a comment. And again, for more information about why this stuff benefits confessional Lutheran blogging, morality, and other worthwhile endeavors, please check out the first three links under Aurous Effluence in the sidebar.

Thanks for the plug. We'll see how it goes. I'd love to track down Jon Townsend, too.

Blessings.

Tim, Jon's on the Wittenberg Trail. I found him through a link from the Terrible Swede on Facebook. Email me for a link, if you'd like one.

My Raison d’être
The aardvark is a "down & dirty" critter that spends its life rooting yucky things out of their dark haunts and feasting on their carcasses. Nuff said?
