A Turkey of a Thanksgiving Letter
NARAL Gives Thanks for Pro-Death Supporters

Unborn BabyI subscribe to and read many things with which I disagree. Among these is the email newsletter published by NARAL Pro-Choice America. This morning, I received Nancy Keenan's latest epistle, a total mockery of the only One who is truly worthy of our thanks.

Instead of sounding like, say, Psalm 136, Keenan — in line with the rest of secular America — guts this day of any pretense of godliness. After her salutation, the letter begins, "Family and friends, turkey and homemade mashed potatoes, hours of football and Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on TV — these are some of the reasons I always look forward to the Thanksgiving holiday."

Then she goes beyond what many of our worldly fellow citizens say and think, adding a heaping helping of baby-killing impiety: "Today, as we take time away from our hectic schedules to visit with loved ones, NARAL Pro-Choice America's online team and I want to tell you just how thankful we are for all you do to protect women's privacy and freedom. [emphasis in original]" She follows up with a list of gloats, including "winning back pro-choice leadership of the House and Senate," helping defeat South Dakota's "near-total ban on abortion," and forcing Wal-Mart to stock emergency contraception.

After cheering on the "strong community" of abortionistas, she closes with a final wish and words of thankfulness: "I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. And thank you again for all you do to protect a woman's right to choose."

It's obvious that she divorces the "Thanksgiving holiday" from any concept of a Christian "holy day." Moreover, I wonder just how many "family and friends" of the pro-choice crowd didn't gather for turkey and football because they were killed before they could leave the womb and sit around the dining room table or in front of the TV. Of course, those who follow Keenan and NARAL won't see the irony in her well-wishing. After all, fewer guests means more on everyone else's plate and a better view of the game.

I am especially struck by the irony of a so-called "pro-choice" organization applauding the fact that a private business has been forced to carry a product on its shelves. That's similar to Governor Rod Blagojevich's executive order forcing pharmacists in the state of Illinois to dispense drugs which they believe to be immoral, in violation of their consciences. Apparently, the term "pro-choice" really means no choice for American business owners and American pharmacists.

Regardless of whether or not one agrees with the argument made by people who believe that certain so-called contraceptives are really abortifacients in disguise, it seems to me that a group that talks about how important "freedom" is ought to be willing to respect the freedom of others to follow the dictates of their consciences. But that would be too rational.

Get ready for the New World Order, where people of conscience are not welcome or tolerated. It's not enough for these folks that they're allowed to kill human beings in utero on a regular basis. They won't rest until they force every human being in the land to actively participate in their evil deeds.

But why should we be surprised? Abortion supporters don't believe taxpayers ought to have a choice about whether or not their tax dollars are used to fund abortions. Abortion supporters don't believe fathers ought to have a choice about the fates of their unborn children. Abortion supporters don't believe unborn children should be given a choice about their own futures. And despite their rhetoric, which would deceive you into believing that they actually respect women, abortion supporters don't really believe that women really have true choice, either. Their rhetoric is typically full of arguments about the "inevitability" of abortion and how women who are denied the "right" to abort will just get abortions anyway, so we might as well make it legal. (Talk about fatalistic!)

Abortion supporters are often closely allied with the homosexual community, which is ironic since most gays argue that they have no choice when it comes to their own sexual fantasies and desires and acts. (It's also a bit ironic when one considers that lesbian women are the least likely of all women to have to deal with unplanned pregnancies.)

In short, one has to have a high tolerance level for cognitive dissonance in order to buy into the lies being peddled by NARAL. Constant reiteration of the deceptive term "choice" is merely a smoke screen designed to deceive people into ignoring the horrendous nature of the particular choices being made in abortion clinics throughout the land.

I can't help but notice that thanking God is noticeably absent from Nancy Keenan's list of things she associates with Thanksgiving. That's hardly surprising, but I find it sad nevertheless.

What a typically fundamentalist Christian view of an issue that whilst having potential moral foundation ultimately uses religious bias as the basis for argument. If you want to build a consensus of opinion, better to do so on factual argument than personal sentiment/belief. Otherwise, position your comment as simple opinion, as I freely accept mine to be and not tender a distorted and emotional interpretation of your beliefs.
