Going for the Gold, Aardvark Style
or The Return of the Aardie
It's been quite a while but I decided it was time to get back to the rest of the Alley's roots and start handing out the Aardie — The Golden Aardvark Aaward — once again. AARDIE stands for Aardvark Aaward for Raillery, Doctrine, or Intellect in Exposition) — and was conceived as a continuing response to the glut of awards shows and shallow "honors" bestowed by the rest of the world (and the corresponding dearth of similar commendations with which I agree).
As noted in the beginning, honorees "are invited to display the coveted (but not in a 10th Commandment manner, please) Golden Aardvark on their own blogs.... [T]wo sizes are available, discreet (above) and "loud and proud" (right)."
I leave it to the winners to decide which graphic (if either) to use and whether to place it in the body of an honored post, in a separate post, or in their blog's sidebar. If recipients do mention receipt of the Aardie, they may certainly link back to this post, to the Alley, or to the inaugural Aardie post.
So join me in cheering: "Two - four - six - eight, Who do we appreciate? Kelly! Kelly! Kelly!" That's right ... Kelly's Blog is the judge's unanimous choice for An Exercise in Scripture Reading. Canadian Lutheran blogger Kelly Klages provides a simple exercise showing how people's a priori assumptions reflect their theology and color their subsequent study of God's Word. And if you read Rick Ritchie's comment, you'll have an idea how Lutherans approach Scripture study, always reading the words through the lens of Jesus and justification by grace through faith in Him.
